About Me

SelfishMe Travel

Growing up as an only child and traveling the world solo for 40+ years, I can definitely teach you how to be selfish. 😉

Go. See. Do. Be.

Hello, I’m Danielle Lewis.

I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and from as far back as I can remember I had always dreamed of traveling to foreign capitals and far-flung exotic places. And as soon as I began working full-time and saving money, I started traveling by planes, trains, or automobiles. Whatever was necessary to get me to where I wanted to go.

Check out the map below ⬇️ to see my travelogue since 2005 – 97% of it as a solo traveler.

In 2001, I planned my first vacation to Europe (7 countries and 11 major cities in 21 days) using the extensive multi-country European Rail System, all done with limited access to the Internet. I called it my Magical Solo Whirlwind Tour around Europe. And since then, friends have insisted that I plan their trips to locations all around the world.

Unofficially, I’d taken on the job of travel agent for friends and family for more than 15 years. However, in July 2018, I became a real live Travel Agent.

Go. See. Do. Be.

In addition, one of my lifelong goals has been to influence female family members and friends to finally think of themselves first, to be selfish, to feel good about wanting to be alone for a window of time, and that solo travel is safe.

I can help you too.

You’ve raised your children (maybe even grandchildren) or you’ve taken care of your spouse, significant other, lover, parents, in-laws, neighbors, friends, or coworkers… everyone except yourself.

Isn’t it about time you did something for yourself by yourself? You deserve it!

Go. See. Do. Be.

My lifestyle may seem selfish to some people but “selfish” is not a bad word to me!

Webster’s Dictionary definition of Selfish: concerned excessively or exclusively with oneself; seeking or concentrating on one’s own advantage, pleasure, or well-being without regard for others.

My definition of Selfish includes: self-care, emotional growth, and self-awareness; being prepared but relying on your own instincts, knowing the options yet trusting your gut, and expanding your thoughts while seeking to immerse yourself wholeheartedly into local histories and cultures of the world. Opening that magical doorway to surmounting obstacles, removing blinders, transcending comfort zones, stepping out on faith – alone – to becoming who you always hoped you’d be.

This is why I became a Travel Advisor and named my agency “SelfishMe Travel”. I want to help women realize that it’s okay to put themselves first and discover that hidden and/or long-dormant Queen.

Go. See. Do. Be.

SelfishMe Travel is a full-service travel agency and I specialize in designing personalized selfishly-indulgent Culinary (food, wine, beer & liquor) and Wildlife vacations for Women who are too busy or stressed-out trying to plan solo travel or for small groups with a focus on Africa, South America, Australia, and New Zealand. I truly believe that a woman should be indulged and pampered wherever she goes. And if that is her wish, I’ll make it happen!

A retired IT Business & Systems Analyst/Consultant now Travel Agent/Advisor, my superpowers are planning and implementation.

Since December 2017, I have slow-traveled solo around the world. This means that I live in a single place for several weeks or months at a time to live as a local and savor the flavors found there as I meet with business owners, employees, and townspeople.

Why? Because I want to completely immerse you in the best, most unique, and memorable travel experiences ever and that includes putting you in touch with trustworthy, knowledgeable and qualified local guides, drivers, volunteer organizations, winemakers, distillers, brewers, farmers, artisans, custom clothes makers, jewelers, yoga instructors, masseurs & masseuses, chefs, mixologists, restaurateurs, golf pros, photographers, etc.

Let SelfishMe Travel ease the way for better interactions in different cultures and countries. You tell me your needs and desires, and I will map out customized itineraries that are stress-free and bound to exceed your expectations.

Planning a trip with Danielle is like planning a trip with your best friend who wants to make sure you have everything you need, all questions answered, and, most important of all, wants to make sure you have a good time.

Danielle Lewis exemplifies all of the characteristics that one would expect in a travel agent. She is professional, efficient, meticulous, and pleasant. Any stress or concern relating to your travel experience is quickly resolved. We worked with her to cancel a trip that was scheduled during the coronavirus nightmare and the process was effortless. One of the many benefits of having a good travel agent. We highly recommend her services.

SelfishMe Travel LLC created my ideal Christmas Market trip. Danielle gave me a few options to choose from, and when I made my selection, she booked me in great hotels that were located centrally to all the best markets. I had an awesome time and will continue to make SelfishMe my go to travel agent.
